Hollywood.com reported that Britney Spears caused chaos in Santa Monica, California, yesterday in what appeared to be a desperate attempt to get a little paparazzi attention.

Photographers camped outside celebrity hotspot the Casa Del Mar hotel, hoping for the chance to shoot Britney’s onetime pop rival Mandy Moore–who was conducting press interviews inside–were stunned when the “Toxic� singer slowly drove by.

One bystander says, “It seemed obvious that Britney wanted to get noticed and photographed–why else would you show up at one of California’s paparazzi hangouts.

“She drove really slowly and doubled back on herself to make sure that everyone who wanted to get a shot, got a shot.�

But Britney’s afternoon out turned ugly when her security guard, who was with her for the drive, had to fight off one snapper who got too close to his charge.

The onlooker says, “Britney had to make a run for it in the end. She and her bodyguard ended up hanging out by the hotel pool–in full view of everyone.�

Yahoo! News reported that an appearance in family court sought by Kevin Federline amid a child custody dispute with
Britney Spears was canceled Thursday as reports surfaced that the pop star was back in rehab.

Spears returned to the Promises Malibu Treatment Center late Wednesday, according to reports from TMZ.com, “The Insider” and “Extra.” Her mother, Lynne Spears, drove her daughter to the center, “Extra” and “The Insider” said.

MSNBC reports that the in-and-out-of-rehab saga that has been dogging Britney Spears the past week is moving to a new venue: family law court.

Spears’ estranged husband, Kevin Federline, and his lawyer were scheduled to appear Thursday at an emergency hearing in family law court, Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini said. It was not known what issue the 28-year-old aspiring rapper planned to raise, though the former couple are in a custody dispute over their two children.

“Our best information is he will be here; she won’t,� Parachini said. “But anything is possible.� (Britney will not be at the court meeting because Britney has checked back in to rehab.)

Yahoo! News reported this morning that as Britney Spears was reportedly checking out of rehab for the second time in a week Wednesday, her estranged husband was making plans to go to court amid a custody dispute over their two children.

Kevin Federline and his lawyer were scheduled to appear at a downtown courthouse Thursday for an emergency hearing in family law court, Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini told The Associated Press. It was not known what issue Federline planned to raise.

“Our best information is he will be here; she won’t,” Parachini said. “But anything is possible.”

It was not known what Federline intended to ask the court. He sought support and sole custody of Jayden James, 5 months, and Sean Preston, 17 months, after Spears moved to end their two-year marriage in November, but a temporary order issued Feb. 1 granted joint custody through this month.

Britney Spears entered rehab Tuesday after a bizarre weekend that included shaving her head and getting a new tattoo.

Spears’ manager, Larry Rudolph, told People magazine’s Web site that Spears, 25, had voluntarily checked herself into an undisclosed treatment facility.

“We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time,” Rudolph was quoted as saying.

Calls to Spears’ representatives by The Associated Press weren’t returned Tuesday.

Since she announced her separation from Kevin Federline in November, Spears, the mother of two young sons, has been seen partying heavily, and her appearance has been increasingly sloppy.

On Friday night, Spears grabbed an electrical shaver at a San Fernando Valley salon and shaved her head completely bald.

Video on KABC-TV showed a newly shorn Spears with tiny tattoos on the back of her neck as she sat for a new tattoo — a pair of red-and-pink lips on her wrist.

Entertainment TV shows and Web sites reported Friday that she had gone in and out of rehab that week.

Esther’s Haircutting Studio, where Spears shaved her head, set up a Web site to auction off her hair and other items for a minimum price of $1 million, J.T. Tognozzi, who owns the salon with his wife, told the AP on Tuesday.

“This is it, the opportunity of a lifetime,” according to BuyBritneysHair.com. The winning bidder gets Spears’ dark, knotty hair extensions, the clipper she used to cut them off, the Red Bull she drank at the salon and her cigarette lighter.

Tognozzi said he’d placed the items for sale on the eBay auction Web site, which later took them down, for reasons unknown to him.

Kelly Clarkson was first shown a picture of Britney Spears’ hair-less head during a news conference on Saturday, when a reporter asked Kelly for her opinion. The former ‘Idol’ star’s reaction was priceless!

According to the NY Daily News, in the press conference, Kelly Clarkson got her first glimpse of ‘Baldny’ since she shaved her head. Kelly looked at a picture on someone’s computer, then returned to the microphone.
