Fan rushes stage- is arrested!

Monday, May 4th, 2009

britney-spears-nassau2.jpgIn Connecticut on Saturday, Britney was performing “Womanizer” when a fan rushed the stage at the Mohegan Sun Arena during the Encore. He apparently climbed over the security barriers and then jumped on stage with her. A couple of videos have made it to youtube - the second one showing a clear look at Britney’s face as she screams for him to get out! The closest dancers grabbed/escorted him off the stage while a shaken Britney finished the encore.

The fan, 22 year old Kyle King, was arrested outside for “breach of peace” and also charged with interfering with police when he refused to co-operate. It was reported that he was definitely drinking. He was released the next morning after paying a $250 bond - he’s due in court on June 18th.

Scary! I don’t blame Britney at all for being frightened, though it is a tiny bit funny to see her scream but not to hear anything at all, when we’ve heard about the random statements she yells at times (Merry Christmas being one, and Rock out with our Cock out making me giggle with glee…). Guess the Mic wasn’t hot - and probably a good thing considering that CT apparently breeds crazy ass fans.

Check it out:

.

Wonder who’s gonna get fired from the security detail for this one, hm? Someone was definitely sleeping on the job!

Briefly, in other news, the restraining order against Adnan and crew has been extended for three years. Unsurprisingly, he plans to appeal. Some guys just can’t take a damn hint, can they?

Circus getting her down?

Friday, April 24th, 2009

britney-spears-canada-3189-6.jpg Overall the tour has been going fantastically! There have been some bobbles here and there, but Britney’s Circus seems to still be headed in the right direction, even through a halt of the show because of dangerous smoke levels, an unsteady platform, and… losing her hair?

During one portion of the concert, two guys dangle from the ceiling and pick her up, and spin her around. Check out what happened the other night during that move…

.
…OUCH. That could not have felt good at all, even if the extensions were loose to begin with. just… ouch.

Sources say that the choreography is insane, and starting to take it’s tole on Britney. She’s not sure how much more she can take and some nights has complained of nausea and dizzinees, and even ran off stage to vomit because of it.

She does have a couple weeks in May off between tour dates, so hopefully she’ll be able to get some rest and relaxation in so that she can finish the tour strong.

In other news, she won’t have to appear in court to testify in her fight to win permanent restraining orders against three of her former companions - a judge declared that she was not fit to take the stand in the case against Sam Lutfi, Jon eardley and Adnan Ghalib. The restraining order against Adnan is in place for three years, but Lutfi and Eardley are still contesting the case in court, with Eardley demanding the singer testify. The judge shot it down though, telling the court “There was a finding of a judge of the Superior Court that she lacks the capacity to testify.”

Restraining Orders

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

I know, I know. I disappeared there for a while - but I’m back, so let’s catch up on Britney’s special brand of Crazy, hm?

As we mentioned before, Britney’s estate had filed for a restraining order against Osama Lutfi and Adnan Ghlib, which had Lutfi mad enough that he filed a lawsuit against Jamie and Lynne Spears in retaliation. He’s not the only one that went off a little half-cocked either.

The court granted the restraining order, and Britney’s ex, Adnan, in an attempt to resist being served, RAN OVER THE PROCESS SERVER WITH HIS CAR. I know, right? He as charged with assault for that, but then didn’t even bother to fight the restraining order in anyway. It was confirmed that it would remain in place for three years - until March 2012.

So you’d think that’d be the end of it, right? Wrong! This is BritneyLand, bitch! A couple of days ago an answering machine message surfaced that allegedly is from Britney to another law firm, asking for help to get the conservatorship lifted. It supposedly came in January, nd states that Jamie Spears has been threatening Britney with losing shared custody of her kids. Check it out:

The plot thickens!

Yesterday, the trial continued in the case of the restraining order against Sam Lutfi, and his sister - Christina - took the stand. She had some interesting claims, stating that she’d snuck a pre-paid cell phone to Britney at the singer’s request. Christina said that Britney had told her she wanted to get a hold of Sam. “She wanted him to help her finda lawyer…. she was scared because her father was blackmailing her with visitation rights over her kids.”

Christina stated further that Britney orchastrated a meeting with her at a gym in the Peninsula Hotel on Jan. 16 in the sauna where Christina gave her the phone, saying it was from Osama and Adnan. The phone was later discovered and confiscated by the security team.

The Spears’ legal team, however, maintain that Britney is so afraid of Sam that she asked if Attorney Blair Berk could get him arrested and keep him away. He also says she repeatedly denied seeking outside legal help, and they doubt the recording’s authenticity.

What a tangled mess! The trial continues on April 21st, where the judge will make a decision on the restraining order.

So what do you think? Is Britney chomping at the bit? Is she ready to get out from under her daddy’s thumb or is this more crazy? She’s racking up hundreds of thousands in legal fees, reportedly the figure could be as much as $2.7 million! Daddy’s authority won’t nd though, not until the singer can prove to the court, backed by doctor’s opinions, that she is ready to handle her own affairs. Can’t help but think this testimony is damaging enough that it won’t happen for a while, hm?

Ohhhh. Osama Mad!

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

sam-luftiAs we mentioned previously, Britney’s estate has filed for a restraining order against Osama Lutfi and Adnan Ghalib, as well as their lawyer. On Tuesday, February 3, Lutfi filed lawsuit against the Spears, apparently in retaliation, for Defamation and Breech of Contract according to the LA Court documents. He is also claiming libel, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, saying that “Jamie and Lynne launched a campaign of lies and intimidation designed o destroy Lutfi and drive him out of Britney’s life,” that “provided Jamie with the opportunity he needed to obtain an appointment as Britney’s conservator.”

Awwww, poor Sammy-boy… his widdle feelings was hurt!

The papers further claim that despite Jamie and Lynne accomplishing their objectives, they continue the smear campaign, and so he’s forced to act to defend himself against their “persistent attacks”.

His main claim of defamation is that the book “Through he Storm” by Lynne Spears had damaged his reputation, because of he allegations that she makes about Lutfi’s control over Britney, allegations he calls “lies and fabrication”. It’s caused him to suffere an “unfathomable amount” of ridicule and scorn, and he claims o have received numerous death threats from Britney fans - oh, and he can “no longer ind work as a counselor of at-risk teens”. Awww.

Oh, and those Battery allegations? Apparently Sam says that Jamie burst into Britney’s house and punched him in the chest, causing “unjury to his nervous system and person” while Jamie screamed about a comment made to Lynne the night before. Oh, and he hasn’t gotten paid for being Britney’s manager either - an agreement he says was verbal, yet confirmed by a text message on Oct. 13, 2007. His lawyer, Bryan J. Freedman made statement that there was overwhelming evidence from independent witnesses that will prove his case, too.

Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes to me -how ’bout you?

A restraining order…

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

sexybackOn Friday, almost a year to the day since Papa Spears took over the conservatorship of Britney’s estate, he and the lawyers filed for a restraining order against Sam Lutfi, ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib and lawyer Jon Eardley. The documents say that the three men have been a disruptive force in Britney’s life, and that they are working to disrupt the conservatorship “with an utter disregard for Ms. Spears’ health and well being.”

It’s a temporary measure for now, though there will be a hearing next month to see if the order is extended. The documents also claimed that Lutfi tried to contact Britney in December, sending text messages to her hair dresser, and then to Britney herself and one of her attorneys, Blair Berk, in an attempt to arrange a meeting. Lufti is the one Lynne Spears accused of grinding pills into Britney’s food in an effort to control her. Lufti is also accused of sending threatening and harassing messages to Jamie Spears, though said messages were ‘anonymous’.

The lawyer that is named is the one who pretended to be Britney’s lawyer, and tried to get the conservatorship case bumped to federal court. The documents also state that attorney sent a proposal to remove Spears’ court appointed attorney, and later told Spears’ attorney’s that he had been contacted by Eardley and Lutfi - that proposal was never filed officially with the court, and the attorney dropped Lutfi and Eardley as clients.

They (Adnan, Lutfi and Eardley), of course, have no comment.

I’m just glad Britney’s papa and the lawyers are on top of it all - with the new tour, Britney needs to not have to worry about things at home in order to make it the success we know it can be!

In other news - check out this fan made mashup of old videos into a new one for “If U Seek Amy”! It’s awesome!

Daddy Spears appointed permanently

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

While Britney was looking intense in the studio, keeping up with her rehearsal for her next video, and rumored appearances that will promote the new album, Jamie Spears was in court once again to discuss the conservatorship of Britney’s affairs. In a move that was not unexpected, Jamie was declared the permanent co-conservator of Britney’s estate, sharing the duties with her attorney, Andrew Wallet.

(Her attorney’s last name is “Wallet”?! Am I the only one amused by this?!)

Samuel Ingham, the court appointed lawyer in the case, told People that he’d met several times with Britney and she requested that he not object to the ruling at all, and commissioner Reva Goetz agreed saying that the permanent conservatorship was necessary and appropriate.

Don’t get all worried about the ‘permanent’ status though, as it simply means that they won’t have to continue meeting to renew the temporary status of Jamie’s running of Britney’s estate. It’s just a formality, and a source close to Britney reportedly said that it’s not going to last forever, it just is there to ensure increased time with the boys, and provide her with support for her music and work goals.

Terry Wasserman, a mental health lawyer who is not involved with the case added that “Ms. Spears can regain control of her life anytime, as long as her doctors feel she’s able to manage her own affairs.”

For right now, though, Britney seems to be content letting Daddy handle the day to day issues, allowing her to focus on her comeback trail. Womanizer is still doing great, and after a weekend in palm springs for Team Britney, they’re back hard at work, preparing for the albums December 2nd release date. And with Britney looking as good as she is? We’re content with that too!

Britney’s Case declared a Mistrial!

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

After three days of deliberations, including some time spent as the prosecuting and defense attorney’s gave their closing articles another whirl in attempt to sway the jury their way, the Jury Foreman declared them hopelessly deadlocked in a 10-2 decision favoring Britney’s innocence. The judge was forced to declare the mistrial, freeing Britney from this round of court appearances, though the possibility was opened for the Prosecution to retry the case.

Recently, those close to Britney suggested that she’d started to regret allowing the charge of driving without a license to go to trial. She wouldn’t take anyone’s advise, and had to be right according to the source, but once the jury began deliberating “It became clear to her that maybe she should have let this one go and not fight this case.”

It all came out alright in the end, however, as Britney’s arrorney, Michael Flanagan declared that “Today’s outcome shoes my client did nothing wrong. I consider this a victory.” He then added that she was vindicated, taking on a system that “attempted to make an example of her celebrity.”

After the mistrial was declared, Judge Steel dismissed the case entirely, as the prosecutor Michael Amerian stated he wasn’t willing to retry the case. “I think it’s inappropriate to ask for retrial.”

People Magazine reports that the jury foreman, Gary Moy was one of the two that maintained the stance that Britney was guilty. He admitted they felt deadlocked from the beginning - there were questions about lack of evidence on whether or not Britney had a Louisiana license at the time of the accident, and what the full definition of residency was. “We felt we were never given all the facts in the case. Some jurors felt their time was wasted.”

Moy also thinks that her celebrity worked in her favor, declaring that people have a “natural propensity to identify with celebrities, and I feel some of the jurors inserted their personal feelings into their decision-making.” These statements troubled the prosecutor Amerian, who added a parting shot. “It just goes to show you how difficult it is to convict a celebrity in Los Angeles.”

Good or bad idea, it certainly worked out in Britney’s favor - and had to be a relief as she headed off to the dance studio once again. Congrats Britney!

The Jury is still out…

Monday, October 20th, 2008

The jury resumed it’s deliberation today on Britney’s driving-without-a-license case, but so far they are deadlocked with a 10-2 decision. It needs to be unanimous one way or the other, or be declared a deadlocked jury, with the possibility of retrial.

On Friday, the eight women and four men on the Jury had two hours to deliberate, before breaking for the weekend, only to come back to the courtroom to ask a couple more details. They posted two questions - including one that tried to clarify exactly what Britney was charged with. They were read some more instructions, declared themselves deadlocked, and were told by the judge to deliberate some more.

The Jury is digging through a whole day’s worth of testimony and arguments, while Britney decided not to testify on her own behalf (she is not required to as it is a misdemeanor), letting Papa Spears’ testimony be the most compelling of the Defense’s case. Jamie argued that that Britney considers Louisiana her home, and is only in California for her children while they clear up custody issues, while the prosecutors insisted that every important thing that’s happened to Britney has happened in California, which is enough to declare her a resident. The most damning of the evidence is probably that Britney had applied for a CA license four months before the incident in question - though she did not, ultimately, receive one.

The jury is still undecided, and no one is sure how long the judge will make them continue to deliberate before they a - come to a decision or b - remain deadlocked.

In the meantime? Did you know you can follow Britney on Twitter?! INORITE?! And she wants to thank all the fans for helping Womanizer go #1!

Awaiting a verdict…

Friday, October 17th, 2008

The jury selection began on Wednesday for Britney Spears’ misdemeanor driving without a license trial, stemming from her 07 fender bender. By Thursday, they had a jury seated of those who claimed they could be impartial, and supposedly sympathized with Britney’s plight as a celeb hounded by the photogs. Opening statements began directly afterward, with the bulk of the arguments happening today.

In the opening statement, Michale Amerian called the case straight forward, she was driving without a CA license and thus is guilty. Britney’s attorney, Michael Flanagan argued that she was in possession of a Louisiana state license and not required to get a CA license until she becomes a permenant resident, that her primary residence is in Louisiana - but that she’s here for the kids and the custody agreements. He declared that she had hopes to return to LA as soon as the custody situation is straightened out, and she pays income tazes in Louisiana, is registered to vote there, and never applied for a homeowners exemption for a tax break on her Los Angeles home.

The closing arguments were today, Friday, and the jury has begun it’s deliberation. The prosecution argued that every significant occurence of Britney’s life happened in CA - her marriage, her sons, her divorce, and thus she’s a CA resident. He mentioned she applied for a CA license 4 months prior to the accident as well, and thus is guilty.

Called for her defense was Papa Spears, who testified that she had a Louisiana license and wants to return to Louisiana as soon as possible. In closing arguments, Flanagan declared that she doesn’t want to be in California, and that they have gotten a glimpse of whatit’s like to be here for her. She wants to go home. Amerian countered by pointing out the lack of hard evidence that she had a Louisiana license on that day, other then the testimony of her dad. (…can’t they look that shit up?)

No word yet on if the Jury has come back with a verdict. Britney could face up to 6 months in jail and a $1000 fine if convicted.

Since her presence is not required at the trial, as it’s a misdemeanor, Britney chose to spend the time with her boys, picking them up at school this afternoon, Nanny and Dad in tow. She looked content, relaxed and happy - as well she should be, as today is also the relaunch of her official webiste, britneyspears.com! Here’s her welcome message, and hints of what we can look forward too from Britney and her team!

Check it out! And be sure to watch the Womanizer Dance off - there’s some fun stuff there!

Court appearances!

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Today, Britney Spears was back in court again, getting ready to go to trial next week for the misdemeanor driving without a license case. During the hearing today, Britney and her lawyer rejected a deal to avoid trial, turning down a $150 fine and a years probation. They feel that Britney’s being targeted just because she is a celebrity and doesn’t deserve even this minor criminal conviction on her record. They were looking for a infraction decision, and a lessor fine, stating that since she’s since turned in her Louisiana license for a California’s license, and the hit and run portion of the charge was also dismissed, the fine should be no more then the standard $10.

They also tried to put the case on hold, because Jamie Spears is still in charge of her conservatorship, thus making her “unable to participate meaningfully” in the case. This is all because of her fender-bender in August of 2007, and the hit and run charge was dropped after Britney compensated the other driver for the damages.

Now comes the funny part!

Just after the announcement by Britney’s attorney that she had rejected the deal, she got involved in a minor car accident. She wasn’t driving - thankfully - but her body guard ran into a paparazzo’s car as they headed to a store called Wasteland in West Hollywood.

I know right? No word on if there were any charges filed, or if this is one simply for the insurance companies to work out between them, but you have to admit the timing is funny as hell!

Out and about…

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Britney Spears lunched in the sun at Chateau Marmont in LA Tuesday, taking a break from the dance studio to relax. It’s definitely a good time to relax, what with the single Womanizer at number one on itunes it’s very first day, and the video coming up soon, soon soon! Can she top her big VMA winning video of the year in this umteenth comeback attempt?

I don’t know about you, but I find the song amazingly catchy in a way that sticks with you via ear warm - you hum and sing it all day long. Don’t believe me?

Well give it a listen, and see for yourself!

You’re still humming it, aren’t you? I knew it! And here’s a very very brief peek at the upcoming Video release that will premiere this Friday on 20/20.

Not too much time to relax though, as the pop star has a date in court today, a hearing and trial starting next Wednesday to handle her driving without a license trial. Her lawyers spent a lot of time trying to get it put on hold or dismissed entirely, but they were unsuccessful. The partial hearing will be today (Wednesday, October 8, 08) with the real thing starting next week. It is just a misdemeanor charge of driving without a valid California driver’s license, and nothing huge to worry about, just something tedious to get taken care of.

Britney has done so well to continue getting her life in order, and this is just another step along the way!
