Britney Spears’ Performance at the 2007 VMAs

In case you didn’t catch Britney’s performance at the 2007 VMAs, I’ve got you covered. (And if you didn’t catch it? You didn’t miss anything. And if you did see it? Tell me: how long were you able to watch before you started groaning in sympathy for Britney? Oh Britney, how far you have fallen. We all had such high hopes.)
There was out-of-synch lip-synching. Lethargic movements that seemed like they were choreographed by a dance instructor for a nursing home. The paunch in place of Britney’s once-taut belly. At times Britney just stopped singing altogether, as if even she knew nothing could save her performance. The camera panned to the audience and showed P. Diddy in complete boredom. Yes, it was that bad.
What’s that? You want to see it for yourself? Well, okay. But let me warn you: the geriatric movements aren’t overshadowed by the crotch-grabbing (Britney grabbed the crotch of one of her male dancers) or the pole dancers (hoisted above the audience on tiny clear plexiglas rings). It’s a trainwreck. You’ve been warned.

It was definately a train wreck - I’m wondering what excuse they come up with.

She should have worn something else. She looked great with the single exception of her belly, if she had worn something sexy but not so “out there” everyone would be talking about what great shape she’s in.
She looked unconfident, as though she didn’t know the words or the steps. I have to wonder if she would have looked so pitiful doing a time tested routine. For a comeback performance, wouldn’t we have loved to see a strong, confident Britney hit us “one more time.?”
The US is such a forgiving nation, look at Ashlee Simpson, more popular than ever. We really want to see a strong Brit comeback. I hope she’s better prepared next time.

That was seriously painful. I just don’t think she is ready for a comeback yet.

Okay, I’ll be the lone ranger and say that I think Britney looks pretty good - I couldn’t wear that outfit and pull it off. And I don’t think the choreography was bad either; the background dancers were hot! Picture this: You’re at a dance recital and the preschoolers get up and there’s always the one child who didn’t come to enough rehearsals to know the routine and she is looking at everyone else to see what the moves are so she can copy them. That is what I think Britney’s problem was - she didn’t know the dance. And I felt sorry for the background dancers giving it their all for someone who didn’t.

Yes, Erica, I agree. Britney looked decent. No, her stomach wasn’t as tight as it used to be, but it’s no spare tire, either.
The problem is that Britney has never been known for her singing. She’s always been known for her performances. And this routine didn’t deliver.
Frankly, I’m a bit surprised you could even watch the background dancers, because they kind of blended in the background and you had to tear your eyes away from Britney “The Trainwreck” Spears to even notice them. That’s not something I could do, so I commend you.
I was too busy guffawing at Britney walking around on stage, like she was lost. Poor little lost Britney.

I’ve never been a Britney fan, but I seriously felt sorry for her after last night. I think she ought to take a long vacation and try to get her life in order before trying to make a comeback.

I think what really happened is that Britney was so bad I had to distract myself with something and her background dancers were the only thing available.

Osama’s recent videos (just in time for the General’s Iraq report) seem to have fallen flat too. No one is really working out…
…then I see Brit. Fantastic voice! Excellent dance moves! It just goes to show that drinking all night really helps loosen up your performance. Way to demonstrate Ms. Spears! I’m heading for the Vodka before I go to work thanks to you. It works. Genius.
